For a newly designed controller, our client asked for a simple hand-held terminal with a small display. From our discussions, the terminal from another machine was not ideal. The solution was the design of a portable and universal terminal, appropriate for all types of machine controls. Through the combination of a graphic display with a touchscreen and keypad, is the simplicity of control the conclusion for many clients.

Working

To change the properties of a machine, the universal terminal can be connected. The terminal immediately receives its menu structure and all information from the connected machine. The different components of this machine are given graphically, with the actual production values. With one press on a component of the machine on the screen, further information can be seen.

By zooming in, more details are visible with the current properties and measurement values. The properties of every detail is directly adjustable through touching the details on the screen. Through use of the keypad, new values can be input. Control is therefore extremely simple and intuitive.

Possibilities and specifications

Because the terminal collects its menu structure from the machine itself, is it universal and knows no dependency. The terminal can save the machine's properties and transfer them to another machine of the same sort. The terminal can also log the properties, save them and restore them. With use of a PC, users can view and alter the saved configurations.

• Memory: 1Mb or 4Mb for saving bitmaps or to log properties
• RS485 communication
• Powered by communication cable

• Wireless communication: RF, WiFi, GSM
• Communication protocol of choice (RS232, TCP/IP, Lin, X10, Profibus, CAN-bus, etc)

This terminal is appropriate for every machine with a communication connection. The graphical menu structures are written with an easy-to-make communication protocol. Additionally, the graphics are available in a 320x240 bitmap. The necessary text for the graphics are simple to place in the correct location.
